Alexandra Hawkins – Lords of Vice #3 – After dark with a scoundrel

8495204The number one rule of Bro Code: Never to land your eyes on your friend’s sister, especially, if you know that the aforementioned friend woul put a hole in your head… Would one of the lords of vice obey this rule? Not a chance…

Blurb:
Notorious, handsome, and decadent, the Lords of Vice break rules and hearts with equal aplomb. But what if one woman is on to their game—and the player becomes the played?

One Stolen Kiss

Young, tender, and highly impressionable, Lady Regan can’t help but be intrigued by her brother’s wayward friends—the wickedly charming Lords of Vice. One man in particular, the dashing Lord Hugh Mordare  (known simply as “Dare” among the ton), utterly captivates her—in spite of his reputation as a notorious womanizer. But when she steals an innocent kiss from Dare, Regan is swiftly packed off to boarding school, safely away from danger…and desire.

One Sweet Seduction

Five years later, Regan returns—a proper lady and ravishing beauty. Miss Swann’s Academy for Young Ladies has taught her how to behave in polite society. But all the training in the world cannot extinguish her love for Dare. Now, she hopes to beat the master of seduction at his own game—by daring Dare to love her in return. This time, both of their hearts are on the line…and winner takes all.

I opened the book like this. Now I know Alexandra Hawkins’ style through and through and I was super excited, since in this book Frost get’s back a little misery. Let’s do this. Yeeehaw!

So our hero this time is Lord Hugh Mordare of „Dare”. He is a cute, sexy and very charming, delicious man. Not so surprising, Regan, our heroine and Frost’s little sister falls in love with him. When she was young, Regan and Frost lost their parents. So after this tragedy, Frost and his friends raised the girl themselves. Regan learned to fight, to ride a horse and fencing. Not so lady-like activities. But they are content, until one time during experimenting Regan and Dare set the kitchen on fire. Dare takes the girl – who is fifteen then – upstairs and examines her for wounds. He then stoles her very first kiss and this is the scene Frost sees coming into the room. Frost thinks they can’t educate Regan properly, so he sends her to a boarding school. Regan never comes to the city, and Dare tries to forget her. But Regan is a real vixen, a confident, determined witch, who wants to take revenge. She comes back after years with a little trick, and wants to teach the boys a lesson for sending her away.

I won’t tell any more detail. You have everything in this very entertaining story. Secrets, family conflict, love, jealosusy and a charming, hot lord. I have to tell ya, I kinda felt sorry for Frost in this book. He was still a jerk, but a sad, more and more resigned. He understands that his friends find love and happiness one after the other, but is not happy about that. I saw that under the cold, frosty facade he still has a heart that beats up sometimes. Perhaps the frosty surface is starting to melt?

You absolutely have to read this book too. I know, I know, I say this every time. But I’m in love with this series. Absolutely. I just love them.
